These beautiful hand painted blackwood ply earrings are part of our Australiana collection celebrating iconic birds, animals and flora that make this country special.
 
These earrings are designed and made by us in our studio and workshop from Blackwood Ply and Sterling Silver and hand painted using non-toxic water based acrylic paints.
 
Red and Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoos have become a bit of a fan fav but earlier this year a customer visited, asking if I did Carnaby's Black Cockatoos and well, once I know, I know and they HAVE to be brought to life. 
 
These faithful big beauties find a partner for life and only nest in hold Eucalyptus trees (100 years plus). The couple will keep visiting the same tree each year.  They are big on personality (and noise) and are an iconic sight in WA with their creamy white tail panel and cheek patches. 
Their diet is mostly eat seeds and insects. 
Why the name ?  They are named in honour of local ornithologist and farmer, Ivan Carnaby.
